A while ago we’d reported about the Indian Cricket Team’s former captain Sourav Ganguly giving a nod for his biopic. Back then, ‘Dada’, as Ganguly is fondly called, had given Ranbir Kapoor’s name as his preference to play his role. And while the social media was divided between the ‘Rockstar’ actor can pull it off as the current BCCI president on-screen; reports now suggest that it’s not Ranbir but another actor who’s being considered for this biopic.
Buzz in the industry suggests that the makers are keen on roping in Rajkummar Rao to play Sourav Ganguly on-screen and have also initiated talks with him. The actor brings along with him the credibility as well as the acting prowess to carry the film on his shoulder and do total justice to the former captain’s persona.
While the mundaneness of sports drama films affected Rao’s previous film ‘Chhalaang’ from receiving positive comments; one cannot argue that playing a widely-loved sports personality on-screen will make him a pan-India star and take him miles away from his contemporaries.
